A Big Week Of Good Times and Tunes

4th February 2007

My good friend Adam Freeman (GT Factory Racing) was down in M-Town last week, hanging out, signing autographs and just providing that all round good guy vibe that he’s become famous for. Adam had made the trek from Newcastle to see Tool with me at the Myer Music Bowl, an experience we had both been hanging out to see for months. The sea of black t-shirts that made their way from the Flinders Street to the Botanic Gardens was a sight to see in itself, where do these people go when the sun’s out? After just getting through the gates in time, Tool hit the stage and it was on! The wait was well and truly worth it with the guys working through an amazing set. The sound was crystal clear (if a little too quiet though…….. ) and the lightshow topped it off to perfection. I think many would agree that Justin Chancellor stepped up a notch in most peoples opinions. Not one to be the stereotype bass player that hangs back away from the action, Chancellor absolutley punished himself the whole way through the set, it was just amazing. The other notable story from the night is the guy who decided he was going to scale his way to the top of the Music Bowl, total insanity. In fact it went way past the ‘cool’ factor very quickly as most people (myself included) dare not watch, it was pretty scary. Not to mention the little stunt was pulled during the highlight of the entire night musically, dumb ass!

Adam and myself were truly wrecked afterwards, I had seen Muse the previous night and I believe Adam might have had a few ales that night. If his coach is reading, it was definitely pints of Gatorade as I believe he now has an alergic reaction to beer.

Its good to get away from bikes every now and then, remember that bike nerds!
